Let Glasgow music promoter’s Cry Parrot help clear away your post Christmas blues with their inaugural New Year Mini Festival. The three day event takes place at Walking Heads Glasgow Music Tour destination and one of the best small venues in the city for alternative and independent music, Nice N Sleazy. Music blogger Breda Doherty tells us more…
The mini festival is on 12, 13 & 14 January 2012 in Nice N Sleazy. Each night sees a host of diverse and new Scottish talent take to the stage of the much loved Glasgow music venue.
2011 was a great year for Cry Parrot with them bringing over 70 bands to various (and sometimes rather eclectic) stages throughout the city, as well as holding their first but extremely successful music festival. Cry Parrot’s constant dedication to discovering new music talent both locally and globally as well as bringing cult music figures to Glasgow has given music fans a chance to see live many acts they may otherwise not have had the opportunity to. Their DIY ethic of keeping door prices low also makes their gigs budget friendly despite the sometimes over-whelming number of live events taking place here.
That the New Year Fest features several bands who have never played in Glasgow before or that for some it represents their debut gig shows that Cry Parrot aren’t planning on taking any less of an original nor independent approach to their gig line-ups in 2012.
