Clyde Arc (aka The Squinty Bridge)

Clydeside PromenadeLength : 2 Minutes 36 Seconds

Crossing the Clyde Arc (or Squinty Bridge as almost everyone calls it) we see the Finnieston Crane dominating the skyline.

This is the end of Route 1 and a good place to pause for a break, with nearby tearooms and toilets, and buses to George Square. It is also a great place to see the new Clydeside in all its shiny splendour.

Dominating the skyline, the Finnieston Crane is a powerful visual symbol for artists. In 1987 George Wyllie’s giant straw locomotive was suspended from the crane for several months before being transported back to Springburn where it was ceremoniously set alight – in true Viking longship style.

We look forward to seeing you again at the start of Route 2 leading from here to the edge of Glasgow Green.
