The crumbling art deco remnant on Glasgow’s at risk register was one of several tearooms run by the successful Peacock’s bakery, official caterers to Ibrox park. ‘Good meals at reasonable prices’ was their advertising slogan.

Sandwiched between two red sandstone Victorian buildings, the building is located in the Merchant City Heritage Site might have made it eligible for a grant but it has been patched up with emergency repairs since 2000. Latterly the occupied by a clothes retailer and the manager recently served a visitor from Canada whose grandfather worked in the bakery here.
