Is that a bird in the sky? Sorry, we should be working (we are, we are!) but news that Bournemouth has won Trip Advisor’s  best UK beach in Traveler’s Choice 2012 has set us daydreaming.  Well done Bournemouth but why are there no Scottish beaches in the UK Top Ten? We need to put that straight right away.

Traigh Mhor beach on Barra. Come on Trip Advisor...

Scotland must surely boast some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. And wouldn’t we love to do a Walking Heads tour of beaches all round the coast and across to the islands; both virtual and in the real world. Starting, perhaps, with Barra which must have one of the best landing strips you could ever touch down on, and quite possibly the only beach runway handling scheduled airline services. (No, that’s not a bird it’s the morning flight from Glasgow approaching Barra Airport).

Ok, coffee break over, daydreaming done. Back to city life. We’ve got Glasgow Music Tour to look after, Edinburgh Comedy Tour to launch on the Fringe website and Yelp’s Underground Glasgow party on Saturday 10 March to get ready for. Plenty to look forward to. But if you fancy a bit of escapism why not send us a postcard from your favourite sandy places.
