Susan Morrison's gift to the Olympic Games

Susan Morrison has a wicked idea for the Olympic Games which we have been saving for the right moment and we reckon that is just about now.

Susan Morrison conjures up a good tale

It’s a true story (Scottish Comedian Susan Morrison has a passion for history and a great talent for storytelling) which comes at the end of Chapter 10 of our Edinburgh Comedy Tour.

Without giving too much plot away, Jamie (by now pretty tattered and torn) and Harry are now on their way from the Grassmarket to the Underbelly. During the interlude, comedians Susan Morrison and Bruce Morton carry on with their stories about Fringe venues and life around them.

The Grassmarket looks pretty smart these days but the area has a sleazy past and it is on the hen and stag party route (not to mention being on edge of what is known as Edinburgh’s ‘pubic triangle’). Anyway…Bruce and Susan are remembering the old pub, Christies, just off the Grassmarket which was the birthplace of The Stand Comedy Club, way back in 1995.

That triggers a story about Susan’s recent encounter with a local stripper whose grand finale involves (ahem) the standing splits and (with some help from the audience) the miraculous unwinding of flags of all nations. In NATO order.

Let your mind boggle. Must admit, Susan tells it better so you will have to download Edinburgh Comedy Tour to hear her spin a great yarn about the ladies of the Grassmarket and some other parts of Edinburgh.

But look out for the Olympic Games opening ceremony; stranger things have happened and Susan has an uncanny prophetic intuition for these things. After Jamie and Harry reach Greyfriar’s Bobby, Susan delivers her theory that Bobby was a hoax (not just one devoted wee dog but several trained to keep the public interest going – and Queen Victoria happy). Now some academic has come up with a very similar story but, remember, we heard it from Susan Morrison first!
