Best laid plans…and all that. Our first week’s Fringe competition has not been without incident thanks to hackers and high winds. But, hey, that’s show biz and we’re delighted to say that despite such hazards six talented people have won tickets to The Stand Comedy Club in the first six days.

That’s the wonderful offer in our #LoveComedy Daily Draw throughout the Fringe.

All you have to do is listen to a specified Stop on our slightly mad, but highly enlightening, Edinburgh Comedy Tour to find the answer to today’s question. The prize is two tickets for The Stand – and a chance to see either Gavin Webster, or The Best of Irish Comedy, or The Best of Scottish Comedy, or The Best of Welsh Comedy or The Stand Late Club. Depending on what day you enter…

For example: for tickets to Gavin’s 11 o Clock Bill on Friday 12 August

Listen to Stop 7: ‘Deep in the Underbelly’

Q: We’re in the ‘bowels’ of Edinburgh: what was the original use of the cavernous space occupied by the Underbelly?

Ok, just because it’s you, we’ll give you a sneak preview of the stop here…you can email the answer to comedytourcomp@gmail.com but be sure to check the competition page for the next #LoveComedy Daily Draw.

Huge thanks to the fantastic team at the Stand Comedy Club who are making sure tickets are waiting for winners at the Box Office (and quickly found an alternative when high winds forced a cancellation of Gavin’s show on Sunday night). And thanks to the lovely folk at Edinburgh Training and Conference Venue who came up with the idea in the first place – they were so tickled by the look of Edinburgh Comedy Tour when they met us at this years ETAG showcase they decided they had to share the love in a competition for everyone visiting the Fringe.

Don’t forget to download Edinburgh Comedy Tour, a free app for smartphone and tablet. You will be asked to display the tour on your screen to claim your winning tickets to The Stand shows.

So what exactly is Edinburgh Comedy Tour? Part Fringe show, part guided tour, it’s an award-winning audio adventure round the famous venues of the Fringe but as it’s led by comedians Jamie MacDonald and Harry Gooch it takes many unexpected twists before it arrives at the Stand Comedy Club in York Place.

Jamie is a stand up comedian who is also performing live in his High Vis show at the Fringe under the name That Funny Blind Guy. As he is genuinely blind he loved the idea of being asked to lead a guided tour:

‘A blind guy, leading a walking tour, how’s that going to work?’

The answer was to enlist the help of another comedian, Harry Gooch. But Harry happens to be a master of improv (he’s been performing in Men with Coconuts at the Storytelling Centre during the first week of the Fringe). So the tour takes unexpected twists and turns as this disarmingly odd couple move from one mishap to another through the crowded streets of the festival city to reach a nail-biting climax in St Andrew Square.
